1968 Chrysler 300 convertible
Brad Weiser, Altoona

Description: “My car is a 1968 Chrysler 300 convertible with a scorch red exterior with a red interior. I purchased it in October 1999. It’s my second Chrysler 300, my other one being a 1966 Chrysler 300, two-door coupe with a lilac frost exterior. I absolutely love this car. It’s almost completely original. It has a 440 cubic inch motor with a four-barrel carburetor and has almost every conceivable option available in 1968. It cruises effortlessly at and above highway speeds. It rides like you’re floating on air. I once drove it to Merritt Island, Fla. It’s a dream to drive.
“Just last summer while showing the car at Chryslers at Carlisle, I ran into the son of the original owner, who purchased the car in 1968. The car was purchased at Swope Motors in Huntingdon. I surprised his 90-year-old mother by bringing it to her home. She had bought the car brand new and sold it/traded it in the early 1980s for a ‘K’ car. She had not seen the car since then. The first thing she said was “What are you doing with my car?”
“I’m very proud to own this car and I hope to have it as long as I’m around. I’ll never sell it. It’s a keeper!’’ |
