1967 250S Mercedes
Glenn and Betty Campbell, Altoona

Betty Campbell submitted the following information about her husband and their car. Both are members of the Blair County Antique Auto Club, where Betty Campbell is a director and Glenn Campbell is past newsletter editor.
“Several years ago, Glenn traded his highly modified 1981 Mercedes for this car from a local car dealer. This one is even older and has only 58,000 original miles. Glenn has told me that these miles are so low because the former owners were never able to figure out why this car wouldn’t run properly.
“He got this car running perfectly by doing several things, but my guess is that the main cure was when he replaced the original carburetors with some sort of really special new ones.
“What I really like about all of the work Glenn has done to this car is that he was able to keep it looking original. Even an experienced car show judge would be hard- pressed to find anything about this car to say it’s no longer an original 1967 Mercedes.
“The front license plate is an authentic German license plate and the numbers have personal meaning. The KL is the small town of Kaiserslautern, Germany, where Glenn spent the first year of his life while his father was there in the Army. The 157 is his motocross racing number from many years ago and the H means historical vehicle.’’ |
